Pintesting - Coconut Milk Shampoo

Today's pintest comes via this pin and the info found here.

I used one of my empty Burt's Bees' shampoo containers.

I used 1/4 C. of Silk Coconut milk and am hoping this wont go as badly (read: the milk goes bad and stanky) as I fear it may
1/3 C. liquid castille soap. I used the peppermint one.
1 Tsp. Vitamin E
20 drops of tea tree oil

To make this I used the aid of my trusty flask funnel. Once everything was in the bottle I shook it up and put it into the bathroom. Paranoia set in about the coconut milk though and I ended up putting it in the fridge.

The shampoo was AMAZING! It did left my scalp feeling super refreshed and my hair was both clean yet not stripped of moisture.

Pintesting - Chemical Free Beauty - Mud Scrub

I absolutely cannot explain why but I was super excited to make this particular scrub.

Today's pintest comes via this pin and the information found here.

Ingrediants:
1 C Sugar (white, brown, cane)  - I used white sugar
5 TBSP Coffee grounds  - I don't actually drink coffee so i had to go out and buy the smallest amount I could for this pintest.
1/4 C oil  (veggie oil, almond oil, extra virgin olive oil, baby oil…) - since it was alreayd out and is SO wonderful I used coconut oil
1 tsp Peppermint Extract
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Following Directions:
Because my peppermint oil wasn't here yet I set my mix aside to finish once it arrived. That's when I remembered I hadn't added the vanilla extract so I went back, added it, and stirred it with the opposite end of my wooden spoon.

So how was the scrub? So excited was I that I tried it the very night I made it even though I didn't have the peppermint oil yet. When my husband came into the bathroom he remarked, "Coffee?" He's no coffee drinker either but said he liked the smell. When I had him touch my skin afterward he said it felt like I'd just put on lotion.

I also feel confident that the scrubs I use that contain coconut oil will be of great help with the stretch marks from my pregnancy, both to moisturize the areas where my skin is expanding and to help curb how bad my stretch marks may end up without some sort of attention.

Pintesting - Chemical Free - Detox Bath

I have been suffering from the worst pain off to the side of my back (I'm sorry I can't really think of a better way of explaining where it is right now) for the longest time now. I wasn't sure if it were the pregnancy, all the bending over while cleaning, our need for a new mattress - or all of the above.

Today's pintest comes via this pin and the info found here.

I used half of all of the called for ingredients because I was going to be using a quart sized Mason jar.

Detox Bath- Take II
(Bulk recipe)
2 C epsom salt

2 C sea salt

2 C aluminum free baking soda

 5 TB ground ginger

1 C vinegar

Combine all dry ingredients, store in a closed container.  During bath time, add 1 cup of dry ingredients mix and 1 cup vinegar to hot running water.  Soak 20-40 minutes.  Enjoy!

Benefits:
Epsom Salt draws out toxins from your body while relieving aches and pains.
Sea Salt soothes and heals blemishes and open wounds.
Baking Soda balances and over acidic system, leaving you refreshed, energized while softening the skin.
Ground Ginger increases circulations, aiding in the eliminations of toxins.
Vinegar soothes and soften dry, itchy skin while balancing the bodies and neutralizing the bodies pH.

My husband and I had a pretty full weekend of working on our house. Cleaning, moving things, throwing things out - it was a lot like when you've just moved into a new place. I had my usual aches and pains but knew he'd most likely really be feeling something in t he next couple of days. This seemed like the perfect time to suggest he take a nice, long, hot, relaxing bath.

I read someplace that you should sit in this bath for around 40 minutes. The first 20 minutes are supposed to relieve you of toxins and the last are to help you absorb the minerals. I told him not to worry about that but to sit there are long as he wanted and just enjoy and relax.

When I asked him how the bath was here was his response: "I mean it was good but it's been so many years since I've taken a bath I can't tell you if it were any different from a regular bath."

Guess I'll have to try this myself.

Pintresting Results - Chemical-Free Pest Control - Ants

All my baby food traps did was attract tons of ants.

So I poured the mixture into a bowl, put it into the bath tube, and waited. This attracted nothing. Maybe it's because I sprayed the shower down with some 7th Generation all-purpose cleaner. I'm not sure.

Pintesting - Chemical-Free - Pest Control - Ants

The ants never fully left but I didn't make matters any better. My super yummy body scrubs I'm sure contribute to the new ants I find in or around my bathtub.

Today's pintest comes via this pin and the information found here which I combined with this pin info and the info found right there on the pin.

It all begins with two empty baby food jars.

Which I partially filled.

With Borax.

Then I sweetened the deal for the ants.

With a little sugar.

And just to make sure the smell should be irresistible to the little buggers.

I added some maple extract.

Add a little water.

Shake it up.

Using a hammer and nail.

Add some holes to your trap.

I've placed one in the bathtub and one in the bathroom floor. Here's hoping this works.

Pintesting In The Kitchen - Creamy Mac And Cheese

It was one of those days where I barely eat and I'd planned to make a specific dish for my little lamb anyway but didn't really end up having time I wanted to do it.

Today's pintest comes via this pin and the info found here.

I was already in the kitchen making pork chops and rice for dinner

and figured if I was already in there I may as well make what I'd hoped to make earlier.

Because most of my time was spent making sure I constantly stir the noodles with milk there really aren't a lot of pictures for today's post.

I went ahead and used a box of Kraft mac and cheese for this one.

Added the milk, salt, and butter. Took a picture.

Then remembered to add the nutmeg.

The constant stirring wasn't too bad so don't let it deter you from making this dish.

The resulting mac and cheese was indeed super creamy

but there was a flavor I didn't care too much for. Too much nutmeg? The pin is still definitely still really worth making. I'll just do it a little differently next time.
